Meet Eileen!
Some fun news!
I got to pair up with Eileen from Wag'n It! Fort St. John!
I contacted Eileen because I wanted to connect with some of our local dog related businesses and reached out to Eileen from hearing such great things about her, all which were true! Eileen is a fully certified dog trainer and has extensive experience in working with dogs of all personalities and needs.
During our walk along, Eileen explained to me about her process with the dogs and how she finds out what dogs fit into which group. Especially with so many different personalities, ages, and training levels. She explained all about how she can figure out how dogs that may have certain needs (reactive, timid, etc) can fit with dogs that can help them and if they need one-on-one training as well in order to fit into a group more comfortably.
During our walk along, we came across a lot of people and dogs and if you're like me (admittingly!) you might think "How the heck does she not get ripped away when people or dogs pass?!", "How can you control 7 dogs at once!", and I am here to tell you, I have never seen so many dogs, so focused, on 1 person! I mean, even this photo does not do her justice with how much control she has over her group even when most of them went off leash at one point! One of the big things Eileen explained to me is how important consistency in her groups is, making sure that the dogs all have the same routine, same motions every single walk. I noticed with people and dogs walking past, right away she moved to the side and gave ample room to the passing by person and their dog, resulting in her own pack automatically looking to her for direction and how to respond.
Eileen herself also presents such a sweet demeanor! She truly loves her job and the dogs she works with! During the walks she remained so calm and collected and I really can say how important that is with animals and guiding them!
I loved getting to meet Eileen and really see how a dog trainer works with the dogs in person. Eileen of course does a LOT more than just dog walking! She does pack walks, private training, group classes, and in-home pet care! She really offers a lot to our dog community and is a fantastic person to work with!
